The People Power Party has completed nominations for some districts in the parliamentary by-elections held simultaneously with the June 3 local elections.
Park Deok-heum, the People Power Party nomination management Committee Chairperson, held a press conference at the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, on the afternoon of the day and announced the nomination results for the by-elections.
First, in Dalseong County, Daegu, former Korea Communications Commission Chairperson Lee Jin-sook was given a sole nomination. In addition, in Yeonsu A, Incheon, Incheon Party Committee Chairperson Park Jong-jin; in Hanam A, Gyeonggi, former lawmaker Lee Yong; in Nam A, Ulsan, former Korea Communications Commission Vice Chairperson Kim Tae-gyu; in Gyeyang B, Incheon, Environmental Landscape Development Foundation Chairperson Sim Wang-seop; in Gwangsan B, Gwangju, former city party Committee Chairperson An Tae-uk; and in Seogwipo, Jeju, Jeju Party Committee Chairperson Ko Gi-cheol were given sole nominations.
In Buk A, Busan, where Democratic Party of Korea candidate Ha Jung-woo and independent candidate Han Dong-hoon are running, former lawmaker Park Min-sik and former KBS reporter Lee Young-pung will face off in a primary.
Gongju, Buyeo and Cheongyang, where Jeong Jin-seok, the last chief of staff in the Yoon Suk-yeol administration and former National Assembly vice speaker, applied for nomination, will have nominations put on hold. The by-election for Gunsan, Gimje and Buan in North Jeolla, as well as the mayoral races for Siheung in Gyeonggi and Jeonju in North Jeolla, will be reopened for applications.
