A signing ceremony for a collective agreement to improve working conditions for cargo delivery drivers between the Cargo Truckers Solidarity Division of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) Public Transport Workers' Union and BGF Logistics, the logistics subsidiary of convenience store CU, was tentatively postponed.
On the 29th, the Cargo Truckers Solidarity said it would postpone the signing ceremony for the collective bargaining agreement that had been scheduled for the day. Since the previous day, the Cargo Truckers Solidarity and BGF Logistics had continued negotiations. Kim Young-hoon, Minister of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL), was said to have mediated the talks. Having narrowed differences to some extent early that morning, they planned to hold a formal signing ceremony at the Jinju branch office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL).
However, the two sides differed over measures to restore the honor of a Cargo Truckers Solidarity member who died during a rally on the 20th. In a press release, the Cargo Truckers Solidarity said, "There is no disagreement on specific issues, but we are adjusting the wording of the agreement based on the Cargo Truckers Solidarity's demands regarding the deceased member." That is why the signing ceremony was postponed. The Cargo Truckers Solidarity said it will proceed with the signing ceremony if an agreement is reached on a plan to restore the deceased's honor.
Meanwhile, the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency's Major Crime Investigation Unit on the day referred a nonunion member in his 40s, identified as A, for arrest and indictment on charges of running over and killing a Cargo Truckers Solidarity member while driving a replacement cargo truck.
