Choo Kyung-ho, the People Power Party candidate for Daegu mayor, said on the 26th, "The internal competition is over, and we must move forward as one team," adding, "We will set aside small differences and achieve a grand conservative unification and a grand Daegu unification."
Choo delivered his acceptance speech that afternoon at the People Power Party Daegu chapter in Suseong District, Daegu. The People Power Party that day confirmed Choo as its candidate for Daegu mayor.
Choo said, "The Daegu economy is in a structural crisis with its industrial base shaking," adding, "With proven economic leadership, I will be a mayor who can be put into the field from day one."
Choo said, "In Dalseong County, I have experience attracting corporations and creating jobs, which increased the population and the number of newborns," adding, "I will spread this successful model throughout Daegu."
He also reached out to rivals who competed for the Daegu mayoral post, including Rep. Joo Ho-young, former Korea Communications Commission Chair Lee Jin-sook, and Rep. Yoo Young-ha. He said, "The internal competition is now over, and we must move forward as one team," adding, "We will set aside small differences and achieve a grand conservative unification and a grand Daegu unification."
He added, "We must protect Daegu, the heart of conservatism," and said, "If we falter in this election, conservatism could be shaken down to the grassroots."
On how to defeat Democratic Party of Korea candidate Kim Boo-kyum, he said, "Now that the internal competition is over, with our united strength we will reach out to public sentiment and sincerely explain who is the right person to revive the Daegu economy."
