Kim Byung-wook, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate for Seongnam mayor in Gyeonggi Province, reported assets of 7.55831 billion won. The asset report was filed when Kim was the senior political secretary at the presidential office. Kim's assets were the second largest among retired senior public officials.
On the 24th, the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee of the Ministry of Personnel Management disclosed the assets of 92 people who became senior public officials or retired from senior posts in January–February this year. According to the committee, Kim ranked second in asset holdings among retired senior public officials, following former Board of Audit and Inspection Commissioner Lee Mi-hyeon (10.46373 billion won).
The largest portion of Kim's assets is deposits (4.3372 billion won). In addition, Kim reported real estate worth 1.27545 billion won, securities worth 1.22668 billion won, bonds worth 592 million won, automobiles worth 99.56 million won, a resort membership worth 32 million won, and cash of 500,000 won.
For real estate, Kim and a spouse co-own Sangnok Maeul Woosung Apartment in Bundang District, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province (1.275 billion won). In securities, Kim holds repurchase agreement (RP) bonds worth 179.83 million won. Kim's spouse holds Doosan Enerbility (204 shares), Rocket Lab (301 shares), Alphabet Class A (157 shares), SanDisk (119 shares), and Tesla (56 shares).
Meanwhile, among those who became senior public officials through promotion or appointment, the top three in assets all belong to the prosecution. No. 1 is Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office Chief Lee Jeong-ryeol (8.77302 billion won), No. 2 is Daegu High Prosecutors' Office deputy chief prosecutor Cho Ah-ra (7.09511 billion won), and No. 3 is trial and litigation division chief Ahn Seong-hee (6.64237 billion won).
