The cutoff for high school records for 2026 medical school freshmen was tallied to have risen by about 0.2 grade from the previous year.
On the 19th, an analysis by Jongno Academy of the 2026 medical school high school record cutoff scores published by nine of the 39 medical schools found that the average minimum passing grade was 1.22. The nine schools were the Catholic University of Korea, University of Ulsan, Kyungpook National University, Chonnam National University, Konyang University, Hallym University, Eulji University, Gyeongsang National University, and Kosin University.
This year's average minimum passing grade rose 0.19 grade from the previous year. It is seen as the result of a stronger tendency among top-tier students to choose medical school.
By individual school, the average high school record of final enrollees at the University of Ulsan College of Medicine for 2026 is 1.15. That is 0.08 grade higher than for 2025 (1.23). Kyungpook National University College of Medicine disclosed its top 70% cutoff, which is 1.35 for 2026. This is 0.16 grade higher than for 2025 (1.51).
Meanwhile, the admission quota for the 39 medical schools fell by about 1,500 from the previous year. The number of applicants to the early admission track was 51,194, down by more than 20,000 from the previous year (72,354).
