The People Power Party Seoul chapter on the 19th finalized former Yongsan District Council member Kim Kyung-dae as its candidate for Yongsan district chief in Seoul through a nomination management committee meeting.
Earlier, the chapter rejected the reinstatement of current Yongsan district chief Park Hee-young, who had been investigated over the deadly crowd crush in the nightlife district of Itaewon, and held a primary on the 17th–18th for three contenders: candidate Kim Kyung-dae, former Ministry of Unification Vice Minister Kim Hyung-seok, and Cho Sang-hyun, a former administrator in the presidential office's legal secretary's office.
Kim ran in 2018 as the Yongsan district chief candidate of the Liberty Korea Party, the predecessor of the People Power Party, but lost. The chapter also selected its Gangbuk district chief and Eunpyeong district chief candidates through primaries as party deputy spokesperson Jang Ji-ho and former Eunpyeong District Council member Nam Ki-jung, respectively. The Guro district chief candidate was finalized as Hong Deok-hee, managing attorney at Yesung Joint Law Office.
