Former Daegu High Prosecutors' Office Chief Prosecutor Yoon Gap-geun won the People Power Party preliminary primary for North Chungcheong governor. Yoon, the former chief prosecutor, will face North Chungcheong Gov. Kim Young-hwan in the main primary.
The People Power Party's Central Party Nomination Management Committee announced the results of the party's preliminary primary for North Chungcheong governor at a briefing on the 17th. In the preliminary primary, Yoon, the former chief prosecutor, competed against former Korean National Police Agency Commissioner General Yoon Hee-geun. With Yoon, the former chief prosecutor, winning, he will face incumbent North Chungcheong Gov. Kim Young-hwan in the main primary.
The main primary for North Chungcheong governor will confirm the final candidate on Apr. 27 after a debate on Apr. 20 and voting over two days on Apr. 25–26.
The Democratic Party of Korea has already confirmed Shin Yong-han, vice chair of the Presidential Committee for Decentralization and Balanced Development, as its candidate for North Chungcheong governor.
