People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok, who is visiting the United States, delayed the return by three days.
Chief of staff to the party leader Park Jun-tae met with reporters at the National Assembly on Apr. 17 and said, "Leader Jang was originally scheduled to return late this afternoon, but the schedule was delayed a bit, so the return date was changed," adding, "He is expected to arrive in the early morning of the 20th."
Park said, "They had initially moved to the airport and were going through procedures, but a special circumstance arose and the schedule was extended again," adding, "I understand the schedule was extended after receiving contact from the U.S. State Department." He added, "The media have made many predictions such as U.S. Vice President JD Vance or Secretary of State Marco Rubio, but I understand that such meetings have not yet been arranged."
Supreme Council member Kim Min-su remained in the United States, while accompanying lawmakers Cho Jung-hoon, Kim Dae-sik, and Kim Jang-kyom boarded the flight home.
Leader Jang had originally planned to depart on the 14th and carry out a two-night, four-day schedule, but moved up the schedule and departed for Washington, D.C., on the 11th, extending the schedule to five nights and seven days, and was to return this afternoon via Incheon International Airport.
With the return delayed, Leader Jang's stay in the United States has been extended to eight nights and 10 days.
