Regarding an incident in which a student stabbed a teacher with a weapon at a high school in Gyeryong, South Chungcheong Province, the Ministry of Education said on the 13th that it would "do its best to provide treatment for the injured teacher and ensure the psychological and emotional stability of the school community."
That day, the Ministry of Education sent a text message to the press corps and said, "We are very sorry that a weapon assault by a student against a teacher occurred at a school." It added, "We will swiftly take necessary action based on what is identified through the investigation and inquiry process."
Earlier, at about 8:44 a.m. that day, a teenage student, identified as A, stabbed a teacher in his 30s, identified as B, with a weapon in the principal's office of a high school in Gyeryong, South Chungcheong Province. B suffered injuries to the back and neck and was taken to a hospital; the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
