Mayor Park Heong-joon, who was selected as the People Power Party's candidate for Busan mayor, met on the 13th with party-affiliated lawmakers whose constituencies are in Busan to vow victory in the local election.
That afternoon, at a restaurant in Yeouido, Seoul, Mayor Park held a dinner with People Power Party lawmakers whose constituencies are in Busan. Before the meal, meeting with reporters, Park said, "For this Busan mayoral election, we gathered in one place with the single-minded belief that the People Power Party must win," adding, "I also came to express my thanks because many worked hard during the primary."
Raising the issue of delays in handling the Global Hub City Special Act, Mayor Park attacked lawmaker Chun Jae-soo, who was selected as the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate for Busan mayor. Park said, "Politics must take responsibility, but (he) cannot even grasp the details of what (he) sponsored as the lead proposer," adding, "It appears that (he) abruptly changed stance at a single word from the president, which I believe is not right by the citizens."
Park said, "It is a bill signed by 1.6 million Busan citizens, and I believe that if citizens strongly demand the law's passage for Busan's future, no administration can go against it."
