In the Democratic Party of Korea's main primary for South Chungcheong governor, preliminary candidates Park Soo-hyun and Yang Seung-jo (in ballot order) will face a runoff.
The Democratic Party's Central Election Management Committee said on the 6th that, based on the main primary held from the 4th to the 6th using a "50% dues-paying members, 50% public opinion poll" method, preliminary candidates Park Soo-hyun and Yang Seung-jo were selected as the runoff candidates.
A runoff means a system in which, if no candidate wins a majority, a vote is held between the top two vote-getters. The primary for South Chungcheong governor was a three-way race among preliminary candidates Park Soo-hyun, Na So-yeol, and Yang Seung-jo.
The runoff is scheduled to be held from the 13th to the 15th. Under party rules, each candidate's ranking and vote share were not disclosed.
