The Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) said on the 5th that it will operate a center that provides counseling on unreasonable practices in the public sector. The aim is to root out unfair contracts and wrongful hiring practices in the public sector, such as split contracts and assigning nonregular workers to regular, ongoing duties.
According to the ministry, the counseling center will be operated online through the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) labor portal so anyone can use it easily and conveniently. Anonymous tips are allowed, making it possible to report without revealing one's identity.
The ministry plans to guide complainants to file formal petitions for illegal matters. It also plans to take necessary measures such as guidance and recommendations to institutions for unfair conduct.
Lee Hyeon-ok, director general for labor policy at the ministry, said, "Through the operation of the counseling center, we will strengthen our role as a model employer in the public sector and swiftly improve unreasonable practices based on voices from the field."
