The Bank of Korea said on the 29th that, starting on the 30th, it will extend the operating hours of the Bank of Korea Financial Settlement Network (BOK financial network) by 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Accordingly, the closing time will be adjusted from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The opening time remains 9 a.m.
A Bank of Korea (BOK) official said, "Since August 2025, we have been pushing to extend the BOK financial network and have carried out related information technology (IT) system development and testing with participating institutions," adding, "By extending the operating hours, the overlap with major countries' large-value payment systems will expand, significantly improving the efficiency of cross-border payments."
The official added, "We will support the inclusion of Korea Government Bonds in the World Government Bond Index (WGBI), scheduled for Apr. 1, from the perspective of settlement infrastructure," and said, "We will continue to improve the BOK financial network, Korea's only large-value payment system, to contribute to the development of the domestic financial market."
