President Lee Jae-myung said on the 28th that "the Blue House does not tell multi-home public officials to sell or not sell their homes," adding, "the government can achieve sufficient home price stability through the exercise of tax, finance, and regulatory authority alone."
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) that day, the president wrote, "even if public officials of grade 5 or higher choose to maintain multiple homes while bearing losses and risks, that is their freedom, and the resulting losses are solely their responsibility."
He added, "there is absolutely no need for the Blue House to effectively force sales by giving disadvantages such as exclusion from promotion on the grounds that multiple homes have not been disposed of."
The president said, "to put selling pressure on public officials is tantamount to admitting that the dwellings stabilization policy is ineffective," adding, "what was said before was that 'we may recommend sales, but we do not pressure sales.'"
