Lee Jae-myung, the president, on the 24th approved the appointments of Park Hong-geun as Minister of Planning and Budget and Hwang Jong-woo as Minister of Oceans and Fisheries.
Kang Yu-jung, the presidential office Spokesperson, said that day, "The president approved the appointments for the two nominees whose confirmation hearing reports were adopted by bipartisan agreement."
With this appointment, Minister Park Hong-geun officially took office as the first Minister of the Ministry of Planning and Budget, which was separated and made independent in line with the Lee Jae-myung administration's policy direction. Accordingly, the Ministry of Planning and Budget will end the acting system that continued for 81 days since its official launch on Jan. 2 and transition to a formal leadership system.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries also moved to speed up normalizing the organization with the appointment of a new Minister. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) had a vacancy for 103 days after former Minister Chun Jae-soo stepped down on Dec. 11 last year, and with the appointment of Minister Hwang Jong-woo, it established a new leadership system.
