President Lee Jae-myung said on the 20th that, regarding the fire at an auto parts factory in Daedeok District, Daejeon, "I ordered the immediate full mobilization of all available equipment and personnel for handling the accident and rescuing people, and we are currently doing everything we can to put out the fire and carry out rescue operations."
In a post on social media, the president said, "Ministers of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL), among other related ministries, are directing the situation, and the prime minister will soon arrive on site to review the response with local governments and draw up additional measures."
He added, "Along with extinguishing the fire, we will closely assess the damage and promptly push forward with the necessary support and follow-up measures," stressing, "We will ensure there is not the slightest negligence in preventing secondary safety accidents for rescue personnel and on-site officials."
The president said, "I sincerely pray that the safety of those we still cannot reach is confirmed as soon as possible."
