President Lee Jae-myung on the 18th watched the original musical "The Long, Long Night" with his wife, Kim Hea-kyung, in Daehak-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, after work and encouraged the cast and crew.
Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said this in a written briefing that day and explained it was arranged to publicize the expanded implementation of "Culture Day."
On Culture Day, major national and public cultural facilities can be used for free, and fees at some private cultural venues such as movie theaters and performance halls can be discounted.
Culture Day, introduced in Jan. 2014, had been held only on the last Wednesday of every month, but starting next month it will expand to every Wednesday.
Before the performance, the president and first lady visited a restaurant near the venue for dinner. After the meal, Lee walked with Kim around Marronnier Park in Daehak-ro and greeted citizens.
