The People Power Party on the 17th named single candidates for mayor of Ulsan Metropolitan City, governor of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, and governor of South Gyeongsang Province: Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-kyum, Gangwon Governor Kim Jin-tae, and South Gyeongsang Governor Park Wan-su.
The People Power Party nomination management committee said in a news release the same day that it finalized the nominations with these results.
The committee said, "Mayor Kim Doo-kyum has led efforts to strengthen the foundation of key industries and foster new sectors such as hydrogen and future mobility, and he was highly recognized for devising a new growth strategy for Ulsan," adding, "He is a practical leader who will go beyond the city's industrial reputation to lead an era of innovation and transition and redraw Ulsan's economic map."
Regarding Governor Kim, it said, "He has firmly laid the groundwork for a new leap forward through the stable establishment of the special self-governing province, bold regulatory reforms, and investment attraction, and his outstanding drive has been recognized," adding, "He is a proven provincial administrator who will decisively turn Gangwon's boundless potential into an explosive growth engine and lead it as a hub for future high-tech industries."
It continued, "Governor Park Wan-su, drawing on extensive administrative and state affairs experience, has led the establishment of the Korea AeroSpace Administration and the nurturing of key industries, and, recognized for his stable provincial governance capacity, was named the sole candidate for governor of South Gyeongsang Province," adding, "With an excellent industrial development strategy, he is a reliable captain who will inject new vitality into the regional economy and fulfill a greater future for South Gyeongsang."
The committee said, "Together with the three candidates who have proven leadership, we will achieve regional development that meets the expectations of the residents of Ulsan, Gangwon, and South Gyeongsang," adding, "Harnessing each candidate's ability to execute as momentum, we will drive groundbreaking changes that the public can feel and be a People Power Party that always breathes together on the ground in the regions."
