Lee Jae-myung, the president, on the 16th asked first-term lawmakers of the Democratic Party of Korea at a second dinner following the previous day, "As the ruling party, let's change the world well with humble, thoughtful, and meticulous action."
Kim Ki-pyo, the Democratic Party spokesperson, said in a briefing at the National Assembly communication center that this remark was made at a dinner that day between the president and 32 first-term lawmakers. The president said, "Shouldn't we embrace the people's burning desire for reform, their energy, and their desire for change, and make it so the world can be reformed in a useful and stable way?"
She also emphasized, "Our government must succeed, and we need to pour in much more energy than when we were the opposition, study a lot, and meet the people more," adding, "Let's craft policies more meticulously and well."
The president went on to say, "Because the desire for direct democracy has grown in this era, it would be good to make many efforts to communicate directly with the people."
The president said, "The Democratic Party is doing very well, and the image the Democratic Party is showing now is also that of a living party," adding, "Isn't a party one that gathers various different views to create synergy?" Kim, the spokesperson, said the president also noted, "Cooperation between the party and the government is going well."
Kim, the spokesperson, added, "(The president) also emphasized the remark that 'we must surely rein in housing prices.'"
