People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok said on the 11th, "To win the local elections, the position we set out at the general meeting of lawmakers on the 9th must be our final position."
After a welcoming ceremony for recruited talent for regional development held at the National Assembly on the morning of the day, Jang met with reporters and said, "Further controversy does not help us win the local elections," and stated accordingly.
Jang said, "At the general meeting of lawmakers on Monday, 107 lawmakers of the People Power Party made our position clear in the name of all members regarding various controversies within the party," adding, "As party leader, I respect that resolution, and I will do my best to win the local elections based on it."
He went on, "Until that position was announced that day, the party leadership and the floor leadership consulted several times. We gathered various opinions of the leadership, held the general meeting, and adopted a resolution," adding, "I think detailing what discussions took place and what procedures were followed would be the start of another controversy."
He added, "What is clear is that the position announced in the names of all 107 lawmakers that day is the People Power Party's position," and said, "What we should now show the public is not continued disputes, but how we will deliver results to win the local elections with a changed approach."
Jang said, "Although it was not included in the resolution, there were various other discussions," but added, "As party leader, I am considering which parts to accept and to what extent, and how to lead the party, and if necessary, there will soon be an opportunity for me as party leader to set out and share my position."
