The Korea Fair Trade Commission is investigating LG Chem on suspicion of misappropriating a partner company's technology, according to reports on the 9th.
The Korea Fair Trade Commission (FTC) on the day sent staff to LG Chem's headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, to examine whether LG Chem violated the Fair Transactions in Subcontracting Act in the process of requesting and managing technical data from subcontractors. In particular, it is reportedly conducting a focused probe into business units related to batteries and semiconductor materials.
The Fair Transactions in Subcontracting Act stipulates that a prime contractor cannot request technical data from a subcontractor without justifiable reason. To request technical data, the prime contractor must provide the subcontractor with a document stating the purpose and consideration.
An official at the Korea Fair Trade Commission (FTC) said, "We cannot comment on individual cases."
