President Lee Jae-myung congratulated the film "The King's Warden" for surpassing 10 million moviegoers, saying, "It is all the more meaningful as it is an achievement reached for the first time in two years since 2024."
The president wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on the morning of the 7th, saying, "I heard the welcome news that the film 'The King's Warden' has surpassed 10 million moviegoers."
The president said, "It is a valuable outcome created together by filmmakers' outstanding imagination and the power of storytelling, and by all the people who gave their wholehearted support," adding, "I hope many more stories will meet the world and be loved in the future."
He continued, "Along with congratulations, I extend my gratitude to the director, the actors, and all the staff who worked hard to complete the production for creating a precious space for empathy," adding, "The government will also do its best to build a country where creative freedom breathes and culture becomes the pride of the people."
"The King's Warden" surpassed a cumulative 10 million moviegoers at 6:30 p.m. on the 31st day of its release, the previous day. It is the first film in two years to reach 10 million since 2024's "Exhuma" and "The Roundup 4." It is the 34th among films released domestically and the 25th among Korean films.
Meanwhile, on Feb. 17 during the Lunar New Year holiday, the president watched "The King's Warden" at Yongsan CGV with first lady Kim Hea-kyung.
