On the 5th, the People Power Party gathered in front of the Blue House and urged President Lee Jae-myung to exercise the right to request reconsideration (veto) of the three judiciary laws ("law distortion" crime creation, introduction of constitutional appeal of trial decisions, increase in the number of Supreme Court justices).
About 70 party-affiliated lawmakers, including leader Jang Dong-hyuk and floor leader Song Eon-seog, held an on-site general meeting of lawmakers that morning at the fountain in front of Sarangchae at the Blue House in Jongno District, Seoul. They all wore mourning attire—black suits and ties with black masks—and wore condolence ribbons.
Jang said, "If this law passes, Korea's judicial order and liberal democracy will be completely destroyed, and Korea's Lee Jae-myung dictatorship will be complete," and added, "If President Lee bangs the gavel today in the Cabinet meeting to pass these three evil laws, it will be a hammer blow that topples Korea."
He continued, "If President Lee does not exercise a veto over the three evil laws today, the people of Korea will exercise a veto over Lee Jae-myung," and said, "If he closes his ears to this cry we are shouting here today, the price the Lee Jae-myung administration will have to pay will be brutal."
He then said, "If our people see these evil laws pass and still do not act, the price Korea will have to pay will also be brutal," and added, "Now is the time for the people to step up. The people must step up and block this together."
Floor leader Song also said, "To promulgate the three evil laws that destroy the judiciary at today's Cabinet meeting is to completely deny the rule of law in Korea and to completely tear down Korea's constitutional order," and added, "If President Lee does not exercise a veto over the three evil laws that destroy the judiciary today, President Lee himself will become a great sinner in Korea's 5,000-year history."
He went on, "If the three evil laws are promulgated here at the Blue House as they are today, it will open Pandora's box of the ruling camp's agitation to destroy Korea's Constitution, such as inciting dismissal of indictments and extorting the chief justice to resign," and said, "I hope you will no longer commit sins against history. If I am wrong, rein in the agitation to dismiss indictments and the extortion threats against the chief justice, and of your own accord request the resumption of the five trials."
Immediately after the on-site general meeting, the People Power Party delivered a request letter to presidential secretary for political affairs Jeong Eul-ho stating, "We demand the withdrawal of the three evil laws that destroy the judiciary for the people of Korea." They then began a march on foot toward the Blue House.
