The presidential Office of National Security on the 28th said regarding U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran that it "urges all parties to make every effort to ease tensions in the region."
The office said, "Our government is closely monitoring the current situation related to Iran," delivering this position. It also said, "Our government is doing everything possible to ensure the safety of our citizens staying in Iran."
Meanwhile, the presidential office convened a working-level meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) with participation from foreign and security ministries to discuss the matter. President Lee Jae-myung was also briefed on the issue, reviewed its domestic impact and future response measures, and directed, "Make the safety of our compatriots in Iran and nearby areas the top priority."
On the same day, U.S. broadcaster CNN reported that U.S. forces are currently bombing Tehran, Iran, and a U.S. government official said, "The current airstrikes are focused on Iran's military targets." Israel's Minister of Defense also announced that day that it carried out a preemptive missile strike against Iran.
