Han Dong-hoon, the former leader expelled from the People Power Party, pushed back against calls for him to "serve in white clothes in the local elections," saying, "What sacrifices have they made so far?"
On the 26th, Han said on his Facebook page, "Even after seeing former President Yoon (Seok-yeol) sentenced to life in prison, there are people who even held a press conference to say impeachment was wrong and it was my responsibility, effectively defending martial law," adding, "When I was expelled, they said nothing and went along, and now they are telling me to sacrifice myself and 'serve in white clothes' to help the party leadership faction."
He continued, "What did they do when former President Yoon ran amok against public sentiment and even imposed martial law, ruining conservatives, and what sacrifices on earth have they made from then until now," and asked back, "And what sacrifices will they make going forward?"
Earlier, People Power Party lawmaker Kim Seok-ki, at a National Assembly press conference the same day, asked Han to "serve in white clothes," saying, "If you pull down leader Jang Dong-hyeok, will we win the local elections?"
Kim also argued, "If former leader Han declares, 'I acknowledge responsibility. I will reflect and serve in white clothes,' and goes to difficult electoral districts to help People Power Party candidates win, the electoral landscape could change."
