Democratic Party of Korea leader Jung Chung-rae and senior supreme council member Lee Seong-yoon were forcibly removed from President Lee Jae-myung's fan cafe, "Jaemyinge Village." Some interpret this as the Democratic Party base splintering around President Lee and Leader Jung.
According to the political sphere on the 23rd, the administrators of "Jaemyinge Village" on the 22nd announced the results of a vote on the forced removal of Leader Jung and Supreme Council member Lee. Of a total of 1,231 votes, 1,001 were in favor (81.3%) and 230 were against (18.7%).
Afterward, the administrators said, "Lawmakers Jung Chung-rae and Lee Seong-yoon will be subject to forced removal that bars rejoining the village." Leader Jung and the senior supreme council member were forcibly removed for "activities that violate our cafe's internal operating principles."
"Jaemyinge Village" took issue with Leader Jung's push to propose a merger with the Rebuilding Korea Party and to introduce a one-person, one-vote system. Supreme Council member Lee, considered part of the pro-Jung Chung-rae faction, was cited for reasons including recommending attorney Jeon Jun-cheol as a special prosecutor candidate.
The administrators said, "We shout for the party leader who creates turmoil and takes no responsibility to step down, but the attitude seems like 'you just bark.' Once, to win votes in this village, he came and went constantly and wrote countless posts, but after being criticized during the last party leadership election, he stopped coming."
They added, "When it was necessary, he used the village that way, then swallowed what was sweet and spat out what was bitter. Are we, the supporters, that easy?" and said, "This 'Jaemyinge Village' is a space that supports President Lee above all else, with respect and love."
