Inside the People Power Party, criticism emerged that a figure who had worked on President Lee Jae-myung's presidential campaign in the past was appointed as a member of the party's local election nomination management committee. The party's nomination committee said it confirmed that the person had already left the Democratic Party of Korea and stated there was no problem.
Park Jeong-hoon of the People Power Party, an ally of Han Dong-hoon, said on the 22nd on Facebook that "Professor Kim Bo-ram of Seokyeong University, appointed as our party's nomination committee member, was confirmed to have served as the head of the Youth Election Headquarters established at the Democratic Party of Korea's Seoul chapter during the 2022 presidential election."
She added, "It means that even a figure who played a key role in the Democratic Party to 'make Lee Jae-myung president' has come to hold sway over our party's nominations," and said, "I hope we no longer disgrace party members who have been fighting the Democratic Party on the ground for the local elections."
That morning, the party's nomination committee issued a statement, saying, "(Professor Kim) has experience as the youth head of the Democratic Party's presidential Seoul chapter in the past and took part in the process of establishing local election rules, and we also confirmed that the person left the party long ago," adding, "Professor Kim is a junior scholar expert with a rare track record related to political innovation, on-site training for political aspirants, and generational change."
It added, "In politics, there are not a few cases where people have changed party affiliation according to their beliefs and convictions to take on larger roles," and said, "The nomination committee will do its utmost to maintain fairness and neutrality in any circumstance."
