The Blue House convened a meeting to analyze the impact of the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling nullifying the reciprocal tariff and to discuss response measures.
On the 21st, the Blue House said an interagency meeting chaired by Policy Chief Kim Yong-beom and Office of National Security chief Wi Sung-lac will be held at 2 p.m. An emergency meeting at the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) level is also scheduled for 10 a.m.
The U.S. Supreme Court on the 20th (local time) ruled that U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) was unlawful. Accordingly, the reciprocal tariff that Trump introduced in April last year was also nullified. The reciprocal tariff applies an additional tariff on top of a global 10% basic tariff.
A Blue House official said, "The government will comprehensively review the U.S. Supreme Court ruling and the U.S. administration's position and will consider response measures in a way that best serves the national interest."
