People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok on the 17th aimed at President Lee Jae-myung, saying, "It is truly pitiful and worrisome to see a president who unconditionally labels multiple-home owners as a social evil and devotes himself to agitation on social media (SNS)."
Jang wrote on Facebook the same day, "In response to President Lee Jae-myung's SNS politics, Jang Dong-hyeok answers," and continued as follows.
He added, "There is no sign of the dignity befitting a head of state and head of the executive branch, and it only feels like an 'election broker' trying to split the public into haves and have-nots to win a few more votes in the local elections."
Jang said, "Even amid the crisis of population extinction, working-class residents in the provinces who keep their hometown homes and elderly mothers' residences are not speculators but patriots who are physically supporting the local economy," adding, "To demonize them and stoke the public's 'resentment' with a numbers game can only be judged as gutter politics."
He went on, "Isn't it the case that the president himself holds a 'Bundang redevelopment lottery' expected to yield a 5 billion won capital gain after leaving office?" and said, "If those at the top are clutching a lottery ticket, will those at the bottom sell their homes? First, tell us what you will do with your own lottery."
Jang also said, "You are no longer an opposition leader; you have even become president now, yet it is truly unsightly to keep dividing the people into those who are resentful and those who are hungry," arguing, "What turned young people into 'lightning-poor' was not multiple-home owners but the president's incompetence."
He added, "If multiple-home owners are devils who drive up home prices, prices should have skyrocketed under conservative governments as well," and said, "But apartment prices surged only under Roh Moo-hyun, Moon Jae-in, and Lee Jae-myung. It was not multiple-home owners but the left-wing governments' regulation-only policies that sent home prices soaring."
He continued, "The people want a president who will solve the hungry reality, not a president who points fingers and agitates, asking, 'Aren't you resentful?' While you are calculating votes for the local elections, you should first present a realistic supply plan like President Lee Myung-bak," and added, "I truly hope you will also present alternatives to restore people's livelihoods."
Jang said, "Now is not the time to bicker with me on SNS and beg for 'likes.' As the head of the executive branch, you should report a roadmap to escape the economic crisis with a mindset of making a penitential apology before the people," adding, "I hope there will be an opportunity to discuss the Coupang incident on this occasion."
