President Lee Jae-myung and first lady Kim Hea-kyung released a Lunar New Year greeting to the nation on the 17th.
In a 3-minute, 16-second YouTube video released that day, Lee said, "Over the past year, thanks to the strength the people gathered, everything is finding its place faster than expected," and added, "I am deeply grateful to all the sovereign people who have defended this country on the streets, at home, and at work."
Lee said, "Because we live different lives in different places, our views and thoughts on the world can naturally differ," and added, "But wherever and however we live, the wish that our children grow up in a better environment is no different."
He continued, "The wish for the health of family and neighbors is no different, and what young people and seniors hope for is no different either."
Lee said, "On the morning of the Lunar New Year in the year of the byeongo, I make this pledge as the 'president for all' who embraces and serves all the people," and added, "I will walk forward, step by step, without wavering, using the image of the Republic of Korea the people want as my guidepost."
He also said, "Just as we encouraged one another and overcame difficulties over the past year, I hope that in the new year our society moves forward together on the foundation of warm solidarity and trust."
Kim said, "I wish your homes are filled with health and happiness this year as well."
