The People Power Party's plan to change its name as part of party reforms is expected to be announced as early as on Mar. 1. Earlier, People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok said early last month that the party would revise its name as part of reform efforts.
On the 7th, Park Sung-hoon, senior spokesperson of the People Power Party, said regarding the progress of the party name revision, "After discussions, if we go by the current schedule, we should be able to announce the new party name around Mar. 1," adding, "We are working toward that date."
He added, "During the Lunar New Year holiday, we plan to report multiple candidate party names to the Supreme Council."
In the People Power Party's recent public contest for a new party name, many proposals included words such as "people," "freedom," "republic," "future," "new," "innovation," "conservative," "our," and "together."
