Former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon on the 29th responded to the People Power Party supreme council's decision to expel him, saying, "You can expel me, but you cannot break the desire for good politics for the people."
Han said at an emergency press conference at the National Assembly at 2 p.m., "Fellow party members and people, we are the owners of this party and of the conservative camp," adding, "Never give up. Please wait. I will definitely return."
After the press conference, Han did not take questions from reporters and immediately left the National Assembly. In front of the briefing room where the press conference was held, Han waved to supporters and left right away.
Earlier, the People Power Party leadership led by Jang Dong-hyeok held a supreme council meeting in the morning and voted to expel the former leader Han. Of the nine members of the leadership who took part in the vote, Supreme Council member Woo Jae-joon voted against, Supreme Council member Yang Hyang-ja abstained, and the remaining seven, including Jang, voted in favor, confirming the expulsion.
