People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok began a hunger strike, urging the Democratic Party of Korea to accept a special counsel probe into the Unification Church.
At the "2nd rally condemning the comprehensive special counsel," held at the National Assembly Rotunda on the afternoon of the 15th, Jang said, "The moment Reform Party floor leader Cheon Ha-ram, as the first runner, stands to filibuster in the plenary chamber, I will begin a hunger strike here at the National Assembly Rotunda, where the voices of the people gather, to urge acceptance of the special counsel bill," and stated accordingly.
Jang said, "The People Power Party has decided to fight together with the Reform Party to pass the special counsel on the Unification Church gate and the nomination bribery special counsel," adding, "I am grateful that Reform Party floor leader Cheon Ha-ram has stepped up as the first runner for the filibuster on the second special counsel bill today."
He added, "I said that if the special counsel bill on the Unification Church gate is not introduced together with the second special counsel, we will consider any means," and emphasized, "I hope the lawlessness of the second special counsel bill and the lawlessness of the Democratic Party, which is rejecting the Unification Church special counsel bill, will be conveyed more forcefully to the public through my hunger strike."
