Wi Sung-lac, head of the Office of National Security, held a briefing at the Osaka Press Center in Japan on the 14th on the results of the Korea-Japan summit, saying, "This summit was arranged in less than three months after Prime Minister Takaichi visited Korea on the occasion of APEC last October," and added, "Including the meeting on the sidelines of the G20 in November, this was the third meeting, showing that shuttle diplomacy between the Korean and Japanese leaders has been fully established."
Deputy Minister Wi said, "At the previous two meetings, since a consensus was formed between the two leaders on the direction of developing Korea-Japan relations, this time we focused on candidly discussing concrete measures to deepen the level of cooperation and expand its scope."
Deputy Minister Wi said, "By holding back-to-back meetings at the ancient capitals Gyeongju and Nara at two-month intervals, we realized the spirit of 'ongojisin,' learning the new by reviewing the old," and added, "Nara is a place that symbolically shows the harmony of exchanges between the ancient Korean Peninsula and Japan that have continued for 1,500 years. While highlighting this history of cooperation, we reaffirmed the possibilities and will for cooperation between the two countries."
