Wi Sung-lac, deputy minister of the Office of National Security, said on the 14th that in a summit between President Lee Jae-myung and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, "the leaders of the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and permanent peace, and agreed to work closely together on North Korea."
Deputy Minister Wi said at a press briefing at the press center in Osaka, Japan, that day, "South Korea and Japan reaffirmed that they are key partners for peace and stability in the region," and "also communicated on global issues, including the recent regional situation." Wi then said, "This summit is a snapshot of how we put into practice our national interest-centered, practical diplomacy amid a turbulent international landscape," and assessed it as "a journey to develop relations with our neighboring countries, China and Japan, in a mature and stable manner."
