Kwon Young-se of the People Power Party said on the 14th that he viewed the People Power Party Central Ethics Committee's decision to expel former leader Han Dong-hoon as "an excessive decision."
Through social media (SNS) that day, Kwon said, "It will be finalized only after the Supreme Council makes a final decision, and the Supreme Council should not decide immediately but, with patience, fully hear the former leader Han's views and make a reasonable decision," and stated accordingly.
Kwon said, "Of course, it was neither right nor normal for the ruling party's leader to post a message on the party members' bulletin board, hiding behind anonymity, criticizing the party's own president," but added, "That said, immediately imposing the harshest disciplinary measure—expulsion—for this act is a decision that exceeds what corresponds to former leader Han's misconduct."
He continued, "As I heard it, during the Ethics Committee's deliberation and decision-making process, the former leader Han barely cooperated," adding, "Former leader Han should not just criticize the party from the outside; Han should cooperate with the party's internal procedures and actively provide explanations within those procedures," he said.
Kwon emphasized, "In a difficult time like now, all of us should think first of the party and the country, not ourselves," adding, "In particular, anyone who wants to be a leader should all the more know how to give up oneself."
