Floor leader Han Byung-do of the Democratic Party of Korea began full-fledged activities on the 12th by appointing two-term lawmaker Chun Joon-ho as the party's senior deputy floor leader for floor operations. Han emphasized, "We will set up a 24-hour hotline among the party, government and presidential office to coordinate contentious issues in advance."
Kim Hyun-jung, the Democratic Party floor spokesperson, briefed reporters at the National Assembly that day, saying, "As the first appointment by the new floor leadership, we named lawmaker Chun Joon-ho as the senior deputy for floor operations," and added, "Chun is the right person, equipped with expertise and communication skills, to work in step with the Lee Jae-myung administration to restore livelihoods and grow the economy, to end the insurrection and restore constitutional order, and also to lay the groundwork for a sweeping victory in the June 3 local elections."
Chun served as chief of staff when President Lee Jae-myung was party leader. The appointment is seen as aimed at ensuring close communication among the party, government and presidential office.
Han also stressed the party-government-presidential office relationship several times at his first supreme council meeting that day. Mentioning a 24-hour hotline among the party, government and presidential office, Han said, "We will coordinate contentious issues in advance and calculate the legislative and scheduling calendars ahead of time to clarify responsibility."
