On the 5th, People Power Party lawmaker Choi Eun-seok officially announced a bid for Daegu mayor in the local elections in June.
That day, Choi held a roundtable at the People Power Party Daegu chapter and said, "In the local elections, Daegu must choose someone who can truly revive the city, someone who truly gets things done," declaring a run for Daegu mayor.
He went on, "The question, 'Why has Daegu's economy fallen apart like this?' points to the reason Daegu has kept treading water: not a lack of resources, but a problem of leadership," adding, "Now we must break away from the old choice of relying on conceptual assets such as political clout, administrative experience, and budget networks."
Choi also said, "I am an entrepreneur who built the global brands 'Bibigo' and 'Olive Young,'" adding, "I will graft the DNA of success accumulated through corporate management onto Daegu city administration and surely revive Daegu's shattered economy."
He continued, "From now on, I will be the CEO for the citizens of Daegu, growing the company called Daegu," adding, "I have pioneered markets in the thick of global competition and survived by meeting change. This is the clear difference from other candidates."
Choi's campaign slogan is "Daegu's CEO Choi Eun-seok, from the No. 1 district in politics to the No. 1 district in the economy."
