Wi Sung-lac, director of national security at the presidential office, said on the 2nd that the leaders of Korea and China are scheduled to hold in-depth discussions on practical measures to resolve livelihood and peace issues facing both countries, based on their conversation in Gyeongju to fully restore Korea-China relations.
Deputy Minister Wi held a briefing at Chunchugwan at Cheong Wa Dae on the morning of the day regarding President Lee Jae-myung's state visit to China from the 4th to the 7th and stated accordingly.
Deputy Minister Wi said, "This visit to China is the first state-to-state summit diplomacy of 2026 for both Korea and China, and is a return visit by our leader about two months after President Xi Jinping's state visit to Korea in November," adding, "It is unprecedented to share the first summit diplomacy schedule of the new year."
He added, "The expected outcome of the state visit to China is the consolidation of the foundation of political goodwill," and said, "Through the journey from Gyeongju in November to the meeting in Beijing in January, we will solidify the full restoration of the Korea-China strategic cooperative partnership."
