Wi Sung-lac, head of the National Security Office at the presidential office, said on the 2nd that the government would ask China to play a constructive role so that a full restoration of South Korea-China relations can help open a breakthrough in resolving issues on the Korean Peninsula.
Deputy Minister Wi held a briefing at the Chunchugwan press room at the Blue House on the morning of the 2nd regarding President Lee Jae-myung's state visit to China scheduled for the 4th to 7th and stated accordingly.
Deputy Minister Wi said that people's livelihoods and peace cannot be separated and that South Korea and China share the common goal of peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, and noted that the two sides will strengthen strategic communication to make it feasible through practical efforts to resolve Korean Peninsula issues.
