The Ministry of Finance and Economy carried out its first Director-level appointments on the 2nd, coinciding with the launch of the ministry. To minimize any work gap immediately after the launch, Directors were first assigned to newly established and reorganized core departments, with a notable increase in Directors born in the 1980s and female Directors.
In these appointments, Directors were assigned first to 17 reorganized or newly created departments. They include the Green Transition Economy Division, Strategic Economy Coordination Division, Strategic Economy Analysis Division, Strategic Investment Support Division, Strategic Export Support Division, and Artificial Intelligence Economy Division under the Office for Innovative Growth, as well as the Government Bonds Market Division and the State Property Development Division under the Treasury Bureau. The Ministry of Finance and Economy said this was a step to enable policy execution immediately after the launch.
A generational shift also stands out. For the first time, a general coordination Director from the 47th open recruitment class emerged, and 17 people, about 20% of all Director-level officials, took a Director post for the first time. The number of Directors born in the 1980s increased to 24, up seven from the previous year. Directors in their 30s also appeared for the first time.
The share of female Directors also rose sharply. The proportion of female Directors increased from 24.4% last year to 30.6% this year. The Ministry of Finance and Economy said appointments were made based on job performance and expertise, regardless of gender or career background. Many Directors hired through career-track recruitment were also selected to strengthen the organization's policy responsiveness.
Through these appointments, the Ministry of Finance and Economy plans to stabilize the organization early and push ahead swiftly with strategies for recovering the livelihood economy and achieving innovative growth.
