The government will restart the "support project for conversion to regular positions," which provides up to 600,000 won a month to corporations that convert nonregular workers to regular employees, after a two-year hiatus. The Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) said on the 1st that it is recruiting corporations to participate in the support project for conversion to regular positions.
Eligible applicants are corporations with fewer than 30 insured workers. Subsidies are paid when fixed-term, dispatched, or in-house subcontracted workers who have worked for more than six months are converted to regular positions or directly hired. Employment must be maintained for at least one month after conversion.
The subsidy amount is up to 600,000 won per month per worker converted to a regular position. If the monthly salary increases by 200,000 won or more due to the conversion, 600,000 won per person is paid; otherwise, 400,000 won is paid.
The support period is up to one year. Applications for payment can be made in three-month increments. Corporations wishing to participate can apply through the "Employment 24" website at https://www.work24.go.kr or by visiting a nearby employment center.
