The Science. ICT. Broadcasting. and Communications Committee decided on the 31st to file a complaint against seven current and former executives of Coupang, including Chair Kim Beom-suk and acting chief Harold Rogers, on charges of violating the National Assembly Testimony and Appraisal Act.
The Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee held a plenary meeting and passed the resolution after concluding a joint hearing on the "Coupang incident" with lawmakers from related standing committees, including the Land Infrastructure and Transport Committee, the Climate, Energy, Environment and Labor Committee, and the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee.
Lawmakers from the People Power Party, who had declared they would not attend the hearing, also did not take part in this vote.
The Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee decided to apply charges under the National Assembly Testimony and Appraisal Act, including nonattendance, to Chair Kim, who failed to appear at the hearing for two consecutive days, as well as Coupang Vice President Kim Yu-seok and former CEO Kang Han-seung.
Acting chief Rogers, along with former CEO Park Dae-jun, Vice President Cho Yong-woo, and auditor Yoon Hye-young, were included on the list to be reported on charges including perjury under the National Assembly Testimony and Appraisal Act.
