Former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon said on the 30th, regarding the findings of the party affairs audit committee's probe into the "party member bulletin board incident," "I later learned that my family had posted critical editorials and columns about former President Yoon Suk-yeol and his spouse on the (party member) bulletin board, where anonymity is guaranteed."
Han said that afternoon on SBS Radio, "About a year and a half ago, posts with unspeakable abusive language about me and my family were flooding the party member bulletin board," adding, "In that situation, my family posted on a bulletin board that guarantees anonymity."
The "party member bulletin board incident" refers to allegations that from July to November last year, party members presumed to be Han's family posted articles and news pieces criticizing former President Yoon and his spouse, and lawmakers aligned with the pro-Yoon Suk-yeol faction, on the People Power Party's member bulletin board.
Han also said, "But today (the 30th) the party affairs audit committee announced as if there were posts I wrote under my own name, which is clearly false," adding, "If posting under my family's name is something to be condemned, then since it happened because I am a politician, I ask that you criticize me."
He continued, "Even looking at the party affairs audit committee's announcement, the posts are not defamation or insults; they are major daily newspapers' editorials and columns posted anonymously," adding, "At the time, Chair Jang also went on several broadcasts and explained very forcefully that the (party member bulletin board controversy) was a political attack on Han Dong-hoon, and that anonymous bulletin board posts were not a problem. It's all on the broadcasts."
Han added, "Former Democratic Party of Korea floor leader Kim Byung-kee's nomination donation that should face a special counsel, the outrageous abuse of power, and finally the resignation as floor leader—such a big thing has erupted in the first year of an administration, yet every time they do this to bury the news," and said, "Whenever something comes out (from the ruling party), they throw the party member bulletin board every time. I even begin to suspect it's no coincidence that they are doing this to help the Democratic Party."
He went on, "I don't think my family deserves to be criticized. If you think it's something to blame me for, I will accept that," and emphasized, "I worry who would do such a thing using the precedent of an anonymous bulletin board. Then who would enter the party member bulletin board and write a candid post."
