A public opinion poll released on the 29th found that President Lee Jae-myung's job approval fell for a third straight week to 53.2%.
In a survey conducted by Realmeter at the request of Energy Economic News of 2,009 people aged 18 or older nationwide from the 22nd to the 26th, excluding the 25th, 53.2% of respondents positively evaluated the president's job performance. That was down 0.2 percentage points from the previous week, a slight decline for three consecutive weeks.
Negative evaluations were unchanged at 42.2%.
Realmeter analyzed that on-site communication efforts such as the opening ceremony of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) government complex and a luncheon inviting bereaved families of public officials who died in the line of duty, as well as measures such as capital gains tax relief for Korean retail investors trading U.S. stocks and steps to stabilize the exchange rate, acted as positive factors for the approval rating. In contrast, it viewed the push to pass the insurrection tribunal bill and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection as negative factors.
In the party support survey, the Democratic Party of Korea rose and the People Power Party fell. In a two-day survey conducted by Realmeter on the 24th and 26th of 1,004 people aged 18 or older nationwide, the Democratic Party recorded 44.5% and the People Power Party 35.7%. The Democratic Party was up 0.4 percentage points, and the People Power Party was down 1.5 percentage points.
The Reform Party was at 3.8%, the Rebuilding Korea Party at 3.1%, and The Progressive Party at 1.7%, in that order.
Both surveys were conducted using an automated response system via mobile.
The margin of error for the presidential job approval survey was ±2.2 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and the margin of error for the party support survey was ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
The response rate for the presidential job approval survey was 4.6%, and the response rate for the party support survey was 4.0%. For details, refer to the website of the National Election Survey Deliberation Commission.
