She is a politician who served three terms in the conservative camp as a former member of the Future United Party. As a figure from the conservative opposition was chosen to lead the newly launched Ministry of Planning and Budget, a campaign pledge of Lee Jae-myung, political circles inside and outside the National Assembly are calling it a "bold appointment."
The nominee said, "The Ministry of Planning and Budget is where we plan the nation's future, achieve both welfare and growth, and carry out the state goal of realizing sustainable growth," adding, "I will do everything in my power to faithfully fulfill this role."
She also said, "The goal of achieving growth and welfare at the same time, and realizing sustainable growth, is exactly the same as my lifelong position as someone who has studied and pondered the economy," adding, "At a time when conflict and division are becoming stumbling blocks, I will devote everything to national unity and economic recovery."
The nominee added, "I will diligently prepare for the upcoming confirmation hearing and do my utmost in all matters for the people and the state."
