Park Su-hyun, senior spokesperson of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 21st that the party "has prepared additional measures to increase housing supply." Park added, "We will decide the timing of the announcement by comprehensively considering various circumstances."
Park, the senior spokesperson, stated accordingly at a press briefing held at the National Assembly that day. Park, the senior spokesperson, said, "(The real estate measures) are a sensitive matter that can greatly affect market conditions," adding, "Rather than meaning we will release the plan based on the 31st, we are prepared to announce it before or after that date after comprehensively considering the situation."
Earlier, on Oct. 15, the government unveiled real estate measures designating all of Seoul and 12 areas in Gyeonggi under triple regulations (adjusted areas, speculative overheating districts, and land transaction permit zones). It then said it would present additional supply measures within the year.
However, Kim Yun-duk, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said at a full session of the Land Infrastructure and Transport Committee at the National Assembly on the 17th, "Reliability is important in supply issues, so we are considering delaying (the announcement of additional supply measures) a bit."
Meanwhile, regarding the opposition's demand for a special counsel probe into alleged money transfers involving the Unification Church, Park, the senior spokesperson, said, "At this stage, it is not a situation in which a special counsel is acceptable." Park added, "While rumors and secondhand accounts are unclear, specific amounts of money are being reported in great detail," and said, "The party is also closely reviewing that aspect."
