Regarding President Lee Jae-myung's live broadcasts of government ministry briefings, People Power Party lawmaker Na Kyung-won said it was "a cowardly smokescreen show to cover up responsibility for the exchange rate and inflation economic crisis, the collapse of real estate and livelihoods, and crumbling diplomacy and security, and to divert the public's anger and attention."
On the 20th, Na wrote on her social media (SNS), "We need to squarely face why the president is going around every ministry continuing a concert of gaffes and nonsense," adding the above. Starting on the 11th with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, President Lee has for the first time been continuing live broadcasts of ministry briefings.
Na on the 19th focused her criticism on the president's remarks about North Korea during the briefings by the Unification Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Regarding President Lee's comments such as "North Korea is worried about a southern preemptive strike by South Korea" and "We will push for easing sanctions on North Korea," Na said, "These are words that must not come from the mouth of the president of the Republic of Korea."
Na said, "North Korea, the aggressor that turned the Korean Peninsula into a sea of fire in 1950, is a group of war criminals that has never once apologized for the war," adding, "Even at this moment, it is threatening the lives of our people with nuclear weapons." She continued, "Speaking of such North Korea, to say, 'It seems to be becoming a real enemy'—then are you saying North Korea has been our friend until now?"
Na argued that the president's suggestion that there is no need to block the public from reading Rodong Sinmun, the Workers' Party of Korea's official newspaper, amounts to a "disarmament of national security mindset."
She also said that pushing for the repatriation of unconverted long-term prisoners is "a loyalty gift to North Korea following the illegal remittance to the North," asking, "While not even daring to open your mouth about the repatriation of our citizens detained in North Korea, abductees, and prisoners of war, why are you so desperate for the return of North Korean spies?"
Na said, "Even if it is a shallow trick to cover the people's eyes and ears, the president's dangerous remarks can never be brushed aside."
