The Ministry of Economy and Finance said on the 16th it appointed Cho Yong-beom (54), director-general for budget coordination, as the new budget Deputy Minister, and Cho Man-hee (56), director-general for overall taxes policy, as tax Deputy Minister.
Deputy Minister Cho Yong-beom graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in law and entered public service by passing the 39th civil service exam. At the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF), he served as head of the Budget Coordination Division, head of the Budget Policy Division, head of the Agriculture, Forestry and Maritime Budget Division, director for Social Budget, and director-general for budget coordination, among other key posts in the budget field, making him a seasoned budget expert.
Cho also served as an administrator in the presidential office's Office of Economic and Financial Affairs and as Spokesperson for the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF). He earned a master's degree in public policy from KDI and a Master of Laws from the University of Wisconsin in the United States. Deputy Minister Cho will lead the budget office at the Ministry of Planning and Budget starting in January next year.
Deputy Minister Cho Man-hee graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in business administration and entered public service by passing the 40th civil service exam. At the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF), Cho served as head of the taxes policy division, head of the tax incentives system division, head of the corporate tax division, as well as director for property and excise tax policy, director for income and corporate tax policy, and director-general for overall taxes policy. Cho also worked as a liaison officer at the World Customs Organization (WCO) in Belgium.
