National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik will begin an official visit to Uzbekistan and Türkiye for six days and five nights starting on the 15th. Woo plans to meet the heads of the legislatures in Central Asia and Türkiye to discuss plans for economic and industrial cooperation.
The National Assembly said on the 15th that Woo will attend the 3rd Korea–Central Asia Speakers' Meeting in Uzbekistan. Afterward, Woo will travel to Türkiye to meet with Grand National Assembly Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş.
At the Korea–Central Asia Speakers' Meeting in Uzbekistan, Woo will outline the role of parliaments under the theme of "cooperation for human dignity, social justice, and environmental protection." He also plans to meet with Senate Chair Tanzila Narbayeva and Lower House Speaker Nurdinjon Ismoilov to facilitate the entry of Korean corporations into local infrastructure projects and discuss ways to build a supply chain for critical minerals.
Woo will meet Speaker Kurtulmuş to discuss ways to advance the strategic partnership with Türkiye. He will then seek measures to expand participation by Korean corporations in strategic industries and to deepen practical cooperation. Woo also plans to pay tribute to Türkiye for its sacrifice and dedication as a country that dispatched troops to the Korean War.
